Vaping-Get the Facts
●E-cigarettes work by heating a liquid that produces an aerosol. People who vape draw the aerosol into their lungs.
●Vaping liquid contains nicotine, THC and cannabinoid (CBD) oils as well as other substances such as flavorings and additives.
●Vitamin E is often used as an additive. As a vitamin in foods, it is harmless. However, research suggests that when Vitamin E is inhaled from an e-cigarette, it could interfere with lung functioning.
●As of February 18, 2020, 2,807 people were hospitalized from severe lung injury associated with vaping. Cases occurred in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and two U.S. territories. (CDC)
●As of February 18, 2020, 68 deaths associated with vaping occurred in 29 states and the District of Columbia.
●The nicotine in e-cigarettes is as addictive as it is in cigarettes. It is not safer to smoke the nicotine in an e-cigarette.
●Nicotine is a toxic substance. It raises your blood pressure, increases your heart rate and increases the chances of having a heart attack.
●People who use e-cigarettes inhale the aerosol into their lungs, but people nearby can also breathe in this aerosol when the user exhales it into the air.
●Using nicotine during adolescence may increase your risk for future addiction to other drugs.
●Defective e-cigarette batteries have cause fires and explosion resulting in serious injuries.
What is JUUL?
●JUUL is a brand of e-cigarettes that works the same as other e-cigarettes. It is a battery-powered device that heats nicotine (and other chemicals) to produce an aerosol that a user inhales.
●All JUUL e-cigarettes have a high level of nicotine.
●A single JUUL pod has as much nicotine as a PACK of 20 regular cigarettes, according to the manufacturer.
●Most users aged 15-24 years did not know that JUUL contains nicotine.
